Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a current CA license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and at least two years of recent ICU experience for a night shift position.
Responsibilities
Work in a 20-bed ICU within an acute care hospital settingNight shifts are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. with every other weekend requiredFloat to adult general ICU unit as neededPatient ratios are 1 : 1-2 depending on acuityPatient population includes neuro trauma, cardiac surgery, open heart, post cath, aortic dissection, fem-pop, thoracotomies, and CRRT casesCommonly administers vasoactive drips such as norepinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, and precadexUses Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators and Phillips telemetry monitoring equipmentCerner is the charting system in use; experience preferred but not requiredMonitor tech available if census is high, but nurses must interpret telemetry strips24 / 7 in-house intensivist, RT, and pharmacy supportFirst to float to other ICU units as neededIntensivist coverage is available on site 24 / 7 for immediate supportNavy scrubs are required while workingHoliday shifts are rotated with permanent staffFloor-specific orientation is provided for one shiftReturning candidates must not have been employed by the health system in the past 12 monthsPassing basic competency tests on dysrhythmia and sterile technique is required prior to or during orientationNo nurse aides are present on the unit; nurses provide all aspects of patient careSelf-scheduling is used whenever possible but not guaranteedRequirements
