CNA I - Certified Nursing Assistant, Women & Children

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with patient admissions, including orientation to unit routines and equipment.
• Respond promptly to patient needs, providing direct assistance or notifying appropriate staff.
• Support the nursing care plan by performing delegated tasks.
• Ensure patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies.
• Manage medication and supply retrieval for patient care.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the patient environment.
• Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging.
• Engage in educational and performance improvement activities.
• Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency.
• Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and efficient patient throughput.

Education and Certification

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Nursing Assistant certification and current registration with the state Division of Facility Services are mandatory. Basic computer skills and knowledge of age-specific patient care considerations are essential.

Experience and Skills

No prior experience required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, and ability to learn new techniques are important. Ability to work variable shifts and perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods is necessary.

Physical and Safety Requirements

Must be able to turn and lift patients, withstanding physical demands including standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Position involves potential exposure to blood and body fluids, requiring adherence to safety protocols.

Licenses and Certifications

BLS certification from the American Heart Association and Nursing Assistant certification are required.
