Mission Support Specialist (Asset Management)
This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, San Diego Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Division, Logistics & Operational Support Branch, Property & Asset Management. In this Mission Support Specialist (Asset Management) role, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in planning and carrying out a wide variety of mission support functions, including leading a United States Border Patrol Sector asset management program and operations, performing significant review and analysis of asset management and other areas in support of the Mission Readiness Operations Division.

Qualifications :
Experience : You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as :

Background Investigation : U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.
Residency : There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
Probationary Period : All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his / her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment.
Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) Eligibles : If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP / ICTAP eligible. To be considered well qualified under CTAP / ICTAP, you must be rated at a minimum score of 85 for this position. In addition, you must submit the supporting documents listed under the Required Documents section of this announcement.
Supervisory Probationary Period : You may be required to serve an 18-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within 90 days of assignment to this position.
Leadership Training : All newly appointed, first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory CBP Supervisory Leadership (SLT) training. SLT will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment.
The duration of the training will include three weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV.
