Position is onsite in Warren, MI

Training : Mon- Thur ( On the job)

Production is Part- Time Mon- Thur 8 : 00AM-5 : 00PM EST

Position Overview

The GM North America Supplier Claim Activity (“SCA”) group is responsible for receipt, audit, processing, accrual and forecasting of supplier obsolescence and cancellation claims in accordance with GM’s Standard Terms and Conditions. Primary Stakeholders include Suppliers, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (“GPSC”), Accounts Payable, Finance and Technical Accounting.

The work involves a considerable amount of initiative, program management skills, and inclination for technology. It requires a finance, purchasing, tax, product cost, cost estimating, and / or value chain engineering, mindset paired with a working knowledge of Direct Material Purchasing and Supply.

A good amount of team coordination is required within the SCA organization and with internal stakeholders.   The opportunity exists to demonstrate your ability to successfully organize, track, manage and execute multiple claim reviews.

Responsibilities :

  • Validate costs for Supplier Claims according to contract Terms & Conditions.
  • Generate and complete audit file for each claim assignment, along with supporting supplier documentation and results / recommendations for supplier settlement.
  • Deliver high-quality audit results to communicate with supplier and internal stakeholders2.
  • Work with key stakeholders to review audit results and agree on settlement approach.
  • Drive timely closure of open audits and claim settlements (reduce aging of claims).
  • Meet identified KPI’s .
  • Each claim is unique in audit scope and varies in complexity, time and travel (up to 25%) requirements.
  • Services are primarily provided from home locations in conjunction with supplier on-site visits.
  • Services are associated with various GM claim types such as Supplier Cancellation and Obsolescence claims, Due Diligence, Purchasing & Program cost reviews, Precious Metal / Steel / Trouble Supplier Inventories, Vendor Tooling Confirmation & Production / Prototype invoice reviews.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Has audit experience, as well as proven leadership skills / experience in finance, purchasing, tax, product cost, cost estimating, and / or value chain engineering.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and Conditional formatting.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Problem solving mindset, critical thinking, and strong analytical abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines, while delivering quality work.
  • Bachelor’s degree or five years of experience demonstrating proficiency with minimum requirements in a professional setting.
  • Process improvement mindset and ability to work independently.
  • Works well with minimum supervision.
  • Able to provide professional claim reviews in compliance to policies / processes for GM cancellation and obsolescence claims.
  • Support claim process improvements and implementation on a global scale.
  • Serve as Legal witness on claims as required by GM for Potential litigations on validated claims.
  • Proven leadership skills needed to Lead special projects & Reviews, as required.
  • A broad knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and principles, including but not limited to plastic / injection molding, high pressure / low pressure die casting, stamping, electronics, subcomponent assembly, and large module system assembly. An understanding of expected manufacturing cost factors such as labor, burden, and material as well as commercial items such as SG&A and profit is a plus.
