Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown / PCU night shift position requiring a NE or compact license and critical care certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital acute care setting on a 35-bed Progressive Care / Stepdown UnitServes adult and geriatric populations with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5Titrating drips required, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medicationsUses Epic EMR systemCharge nurse present on each shift; patient care tech support available12-hour night shifts from 1830-0700Every other weekend requiredEvery third holiday requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesFloating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehabResponsibilities include monitoring complex patients, titrating IV drips, and operating critical care equipmentFast-paced unit best suited for candidates with strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skillsInitial orientation includes onboarding plus 1-2 days on the unitSeven or fewer days of RTO permitted per contract; all RTO must be declared up frontHoliday coverage is determined by unit rotationScrub policy in effect; artificial nails not allowedRequirements
Active NE or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredDriver’s license required to verify compliance with 50-mile radius ruleCandidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the last yearReferences : one supervisor from past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibilityWill be required to pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%Artificial nails are prohibited for staff providing patient careBenefits
