The Engineer I will contribute to the development and validation of Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) models that help improve system performance reduce lifecycle costs and enhance overall fleet readiness. QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience : Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required. One (1) to three (3) years of professional experience in engineering logistics or related technical disciplines. Prior exposure to modeling data analytics or systems engineering concepts preferred.Technical : Foundational knowledge of engineering modeling principles logistics processes and data management. Basic familiarity with OPUS Suite (OPUS and SIMLOX) or equivalent simulation and reliability software. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings configuration data and technical manuals. Understanding of reliability metrics such as Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and operational availability (Ao). Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data visualization or analytical tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers analysts and Government personnel.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in developing RBS models. Support senior engineers in creating and executing Readiness Based Sparing models using OPUS Suite to predict and improve system availability.Gather and organize engineering data. Retrieve configuration provisioning and maintenance data from systems such as DECKPLATE OARS and ReMAD to support modeling and analysis tasks.Support reliability and logistics analysis. Participate in assessing part criticality maintenance thresholds and configuration interdependencies to refine model accuracy.Build and update technical diagrams. Help develop Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) and Functional Block Diagrams (FBDs) to represent component relationships and system redundancy structures.Run basic simulations. Assist in conducting Monte Carlo and performance simulations to determine system readiness metrics and analyze cost-performance trade-offs.Document modeling results. Contribute to technical summaries reports and briefings to communicate findings to NAVSEALOGCEN and program stakeholders.Ensure data integrity. Maintain version control data accuracy and traceability for all model inputs and analytical outputs.Collaborate with cross-functional teams. Work closely with engineers analysts and program managers to ensure timely and accurate completion of modeling tasks.Participate in process improvements. Identify opportunities to streamline data analysis improve model accuracy and enhance reporting efficiency.Engage in continuous learning. Take part in training sessions technical meetings and reviews to build expertise in Navy logistics modeling and readiness assessment.Key Skills
