Position Description: ESS currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as Benefits Manager to lead our Benefits Department. This role offers an unique opportunity for professional growth, working closely with a cross-functional team to continue to build and scale our Benefits Administration products and services.
As a Benefits Manager at ESS, you will manage an evolving book of business, planning and developing the implementation of benefit programs and annual renewals, understanding our clients technical requirements, and troubleshooting to meet and exceed our clients expectations.Key Responsibilities:
Configuring insurance plans, rates, and rules within benefits administration technology (e.g., Employee Navigator, HRIS). This includes:
Importing enrollment data, reviewing insurance plans and assisting with deductions issues.
Setting up annual renewals and updates to benefit plans and developing benefit packets.
Distributing benefits enrollment materials and facilitating benefits enrollment and administrative processes.
Ensuring accuracy of benefit enrollment data within the HRIS and other platforms to provide carriers, brokers or vendors with accurate eligibility and coverage information.
Managing electronic data interchange (EDI) files, testing new and existing systems functionality and troubleshooting to ensure accurate data transfer.
Facilitating annual renewal processes for any health, life, and retirement plans.
Preparing and processing claims, life status changes, plan enrollments, 401(k) distributions and loans, and perform compliance testing and other benefits filings.
Developing and/or preparing all necessary reports to facilitate accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
Maintaining open communication with ESS clients and their employees by responding to benefits inquiries regarding plan provisions, benefits enrollments, plan changes, contribution amounts and other general benefit inquiries, in a pleasant, professional manner.
Resolving administrative issues or discrepancies with carrier representatives, clients or employees.
Developing and documenting benefits implementation processes and best practices.
Partnering with our HR, Payroll and Operations teams to evolve our process and product.
Required Skills and Qualifications
A bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least two (2) years of experience in Benefits Administration.
CEBS Certification or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification credential is a plus.
Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) files, benefits administration software/platforms, benefit databases, HRIS and client implementation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
Strong understanding of employee benefits, insurance products, and regulations.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to explain complex benefits to non-technical personnel.
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
