Description :
The CT Technologist performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
This position requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans.
The technologist maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job.
They understand and operate CT equipment and related information systems to ensure the production of quality images.
Proper patient identification and order verification is essential.
The technologist prepares the patient for the exam and performs exams per department protocol.
Images are reviewed and evaluated for quality, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary anatomical structures are captured.
Adherence to radiation safety guidelines is paramount, maintaining a safe working environment for patients and staff.
Studies should be completed within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or examination quality.
Appropriate patient education is provided to ensure comfort, addressing any patient or family concerns.
Coordination of patient care and communication of pertinent information to other caregivers are required.
Practicing appropriate infection control and sterile techniques is essential.
Accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents must be kept.
Following protocol for medical necessity, coding, charging, obtaining necessary consents, and maintaining applicable quality control programs is required.
Under supervision, the technologist administers contrast media to patients per protocol and provides education regarding safety concerns inherent to contrast administration.
Staying updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols through continuing education is important.
The role includes assisting and instructing students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
The technologist performs general CAT scans of the chest, abdomen, spine, extremities, fluoroscopy, and pediatric exams.
Post-processing is completed in a timely manner, and scans of trauma patients are handled efficiently.
Expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to patients is demonstrated.
Maintaining high quality and image production in scanning is a key focus.
Leadership in coordinating radiology care across all settings is expected.
The ability to function independently and as part of a team is essential.
Effective interaction and communication with other caregivers and patients are necessary.
The technologist must prioritize tasks and maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff.
