Position Summary :
Are you curious, proactive, and eager to learn the ins and outs of media relations? Do you want hands-on experience pitching journalists, crafting compelling media stories, and building the foundation of a strong PR program? If you're a go-getter who isn't afraid to research, reach out, and think strategically, Butterfly Pavilion's Public Relations & Media Relations Internship is the perfect opportunity.
This internship is ideal for someone who wants to learn how media relations really works-from researching journalists and media outlets to developing pitches, tracking media coverage, and supporting real press outreach efforts.
The Public Relations & Media Intern will work 12-16 hours per week in a hybrid format (on-site at Butterfly Pavilion and remotely) and report to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications. This role is research-heavy and hands-on, designed for an intern who is curious, takes initiative, and wants to build the skills necessary for a career in PR and media relations. Yet don't be surprised if you are also asked to help research advertising opportunities, write collateral materials for the zoo, sit in on internal meetings, help create communications plans, and more. We do it all!
Upon orientation completion, the intern will work with their supervisor to develop a work plan and project outline. Interns are required to develop a term project and presentation. Additional information for this project will be provided upon starting.
