Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, and wrap around services. All our services are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and are provided at no cost to our clients. There are no barriers to participate in our programs.

You have a strong commitment to the field of mental health as well as an understanding of, and sensitivity to, serving diverse populations. You have excellent interpersonal skills, the willingness to expand on your knowledge of trauma sensitive care and an orientation towards survivor-centered services.

You are comfortable working independently to manage the needs of all clients on your caseload, enjoy working with a team and are an accountable collaborator. You excel at organizing, prioritizing, and following through on multiple demands of your role. You are flexible, creative, willing to grow in your role and take initiative in handling crises.

What qualifications are required for this position?

Knowledge, skills, and abilities :

  • Have knowledge in working with immigrant and refugee, runaway, juvenile justice systems, LGBTQ and / or chronically mentally ill youth.
  • Has had experience, or willingness to work with and learn about those who have had prior incarcerations and or have done harm.
  • Preferred knowledge or certification in substance abuse treatment, or a willingness to work with those who have substance abuse challenges.
  • Familiarity with diagnosing clients and developing effective treatment plans.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability.
  • Excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of social service agencies, state regulations and APA / BBS standards as it relates. to client treatment, client rights and client / client confidentiality.
  • Open-minded, non-judgmental, flexible, and have good humor.
  • People of color and ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred fluent in Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Preferred knowledge and familiarity, or willingness to learn and work with those who have experience with substance abuse and dual diagnosis.

You Are Also :

  • Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as one of the following : a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or ACSW.
  • Someone with a Masters Degree in social work or related fields.
  • Someone with excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability.
  • Experienced in providing therapy, crisis intervention, group counseling, general experience working with people who are survivors of violence, domestic violence, human tracking, as well as working with reentry individuals who are on probation in a restorative / transformative justice setting.
  • Able to provide a copy of a college degree and California Board License or current Associated registration. Professional license or associate number from Board of Behavioral Sciences must remain valid at all times during your employment at RP.
  • Able to move between dierent treatment approaches (clinical case management and evidence-based, trauma-focused psychotherapy) depending on the needs of the client.
  • Able to demonstrate cultural humility and a strength based, recovery philosophy and provide support to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of trauma caused from violent crimes and successful treatments for these traumas.
  • Certified in The State mandated 60-hour Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking counselor certification (this can be scheduled after hire).
  • In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by RP insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles. If a staff member cannot be approved by RP insurance as a driver, employment might not be able to continue.
  • Able to complete all required background checks. Additional requirements may be deemed necessary, including fingerprinting (Live Scan).
  • What You Will Do

    You will report to the Associate Director of Adult Clinical Services. This position has flexibility for some telehealth and also in person. In this role you will provide mental health services to our clients and help support the staff with psychoeducation and professional consultation as it pertains to mental health. This position will also provide you the opportunity to share your knowledge of mental health through presentations and collaboration with other providers within and outside of RP.

    Responsibilities include

  • Carry a small caseload, as needed, and complete progress notes in a timely manner each week.
  • Run curriculum-based groups, life skills and psychoeducation focused groups at various assigned sites and through telehealth.
  • Assist in shaping and developing curriculum through client feedback.
  • Visit assigned shelters and partnered sites (including transitional / reentry housing and jail / prison settings) as needed with possible travel to all Bay Area regions in order to maintain a level of support to clients and staff.
  • Conduct clinical intakes of new clients using a trauma sensitive approach and identify service needs when appropriate. Assessment includes identifying presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, and DSM-5 diagnosis.
  • Clinical interventions include : crisis intervention on-site at any of the shelters and / or while providing telehealth.
  • Clinical services also include short-term, trauma-sensitive individual and group psychotherapy as well as comprehensive clinical case management, liaison with other health care providers, and referral and accompaniment to community services when appropriate.
  • May visit clients at home, shelter and / or in the community for the purpose of outreach and follow-up if the client is unable to keep regularly scheduled appointments.
  • Caseload consists of complex clients, all of whom have histories of trauma, including acute and chronic physical and sexual abuse, and are victims of interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, physical assault, domestic violence, gunshot wounds, political torture, and immigration trauma. Many clients also have concurrent medical problems, psychosocial problems, and may have substance abuse problems as well. Clients also consist of those who have done harm and have had prior incarceration.
  • Utilize knowledge of the mental health, medical, and community resources in Oakland, San Francisco and other surrounding counties and maintain familiarity with new programs.
  • Develop a comprehensive treatment and service plan for each client, integrating knowledge from a wide range of human service resources.
  • Facilitate coordination of services among various agencies and complete required case management services to meet the clients needs.
  • All training as required by program grants must be completed.
  • Complete functional timesheets by assigned due dates in compliance with time allocations.
  • Actively participate in reflective supervision sessions.
  • Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures related to job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

    Clinical Supervision, Teaching, Training, and Program Development :

  • May provide supervision to clinical interns if meets the qualifications to supervise.
  • Participate in in-service training and case conferences.
  • Conduct community presentations and training to partner organizations and mental health providers.
  • May assist with program development, including identification and implementation of types of appropriate measurement-guided mental health treatment.
  • Record Keeping and Administration and Other Duties :

  • Maintain client records according to California, and licensing requirements.
  • Record data in clients chart.
  • Meet program productivity standards; Completes productivity forms, clinical documentation, and other documentation of services in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in processing Quality Improvement requests.
  • Assist in data collection for program evaluation and research purposes; Works collaboratively with the clinical multi-disciplinary team.
  • Attend staff meetings, administrative and reflective supervision and other assigned meetings.
  • Working Conditions

    This position is eligible for hybrid in person & remote work. Time spent on-site versus remote working will be discussed and agreed upon with your supervisor. You are expected to be availableon-site as necessary given business needs. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress. Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required.

    The pay scale for the Mental Health position is $40 per hour (non-exempt), depending on level of experience and qualifications. The benefits that come with working at RP part time include immediate vesting in our 403(b) with a generous match. This is a part-time, 10 hours per week, hourly position. This is a hybrid position (flex work), with some days required in our Castro Valley Office. Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area.
