Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Intensive Care Unit Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : Night Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum of 2 years required License : Valid RN License required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have : - Experience in Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Unit - Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage dysrhythmias - Experience in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction / failure - Proficient in obtaining 12 lead EKG / ECG - Familiarity with Central Venous Pressure Monitoring (CVP) - Experience with Pulmonary Artery Line / Swan Ganz monitoring - Knowledge of chronic and acute renal failure - Proficient in arterial line management - Experience in blood product administration - Familiarity with central line care and management - Competence in PICC line management - Ability to start and maintain IVs - Experience in continuous IV sedation - Knowledge of emergency medications and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips - Experience in managing CVA / acute stroke patients - Competence in assisting with BiPAP management - Knowledge of care for ventilated patients - Familiarity with interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Experience in respiratory failure management and suctioning - Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions - Proficient in phlebotomy - Experience with surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs Description : The ideal candidate will work in a multidisciplinary intensive care unit. This role requires expertise in managing complex medical cases. The nurse will provide care for patients experiencing respiratory failure, ARDS, and acute chest pain. The position involves managing patients with cardiac issues, strokes, and multi-organ failures. Candidates should assist in pre and post-operative care, including cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries. The role entails caring for patients pre and post-transplant and managing end-of-life situations. Special equipment utilized includes IV pumps, CRRT, dialysis, ventilators, and invasive monitoring devices. The facility operates as a short-term acute care center and is a teaching hospital. Applicants should expect to float within the service line as needed. Every other weekend shift is required for this position. This position does not require on-call duties.
