Join our dynamic 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit where you’ll provide care for a complex and diverse patient population, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuations, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Patients experiencing hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes within our Comprehensive Stroke Program.A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery cases, including medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), you will gain exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge patient care.
Your Role :

Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, incorporating the patient's and family’s needs.Recognize significant changes in patient status and adapt care plans accordingly.Promote patient safety and reduce risks using evidence-based practices.Lead discharge planning with interdisciplinary collaboration.Evaluate outcomes consistently and participate in initiatives for process improvement.Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills.Engage in professional development opportunities and contribute to the growth of the healthcare team.Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance departmental processes.Licensure & Certification :
Current Registered Nurse license specific to the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Education & Experience :
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.Typically requires at least 1 year of nursing experience.Skills & Abilities :
Ability to provide holistic patient care with a focus on patient and family perspectives.Proficient in electronic health records and computer systems.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and team members.Strong organizational and time management abilities.Knowledgeable about age-specific care requirements and practices.Physical Requirements :
