American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Orthopedics night shift position, requiring a NE or compact RN license and at least 2 years of acute care experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital setting on the Med / Surg Orthopedics unit22-bed unit with an average daily census of 6 patientsPatient population includes total joint replacements (knees, hips, ankles, shoulders) and spine casesNurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 5-6Nurse aides / patient care techs provide support with a 1 : 13 ratioNight shift, 12-hour shifts (1830-0630), self-scheduling with cyclic rotationEvery other weekend and rotating holidays requiredMust be willing to float to MedSurg, rehab, or PCU at MedSurg acuity when neededUnit uses Epic EMRPosition involves providing nursing care for orthopedic and post-surgical patientsTele / monitor techs are available to interpret tele stripsPain medication, antibiotics, and blood drips are administered but RN does not titrate dripsTeam-oriented and flexible nurses who take ownership and are willing to learn excel on this unitCharge nurse is present on each shiftScrub policy enforces no artificial nailsOne day of unit-specific orientation is providedRequested time off must be submitted upfront and limited to 7 days per 13-week contract; additional time off is not approved\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact RN license in handMinimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experienceCurrent BLS certification requiredMust provide a copy of driver’s license for compliance with 50-mile radius ruleMust provide two professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months, one peer or supervisor from the past 3 yearsNo current or recent full-time, part-time, or PRN employment within any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and / or DignityMust pass an open-book skills exam with a score of at least 90% during orientationArtificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments\n Benefits\n
