Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , caring for a diverse patient population that includes :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program .A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases .As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , you'll gain exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care.

Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness.Anticipate significant changes in patient conditions and respond with timely care adjustments.Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and promote health education.Coordinate discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based practices.Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, driving improvements in care processes.Demonstrate effective communication and foster collaboration within the healthcare team.Promote a culture of safety by identifying potential risks and reporting them promptly.Participate in quality improvement initiatives that enhance departmental and patient care processes.Engage in professional development activities and contribute to the growth of others.Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for age-specific patient care as outlined in departmental policies.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Education Required :
Graduation from an accredited or approved Nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically requires at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, twist frequently.Can lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.Meets required physical demands including pushing, pulling, and transferring patients.May be exposed to chemicals, hazardous waste, and body fluids, necessitating use of protective gear.Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch required for patient care tasks.This job description outlines the general nature and level of work expected.
