Student Support Services Coordinator
The Student Support Services (SSS) Coordinator will plan and coordinate the day-to-day goals and objectives from the grant, administer the budget and operational activities, and provide leadership to the SSS staff. The Coordinator will also help align grant opportunities with the University's long-term mission and goals.
The SSS Coordinator will have strong communication skills and be able to work on their own with little direction. They will be a strategic thinker and excel in organization. They will also have knowledge and experience to run a grant from start to finish and possibly write other grant proposals.
Responsibilities
Develops, administers and implements program features that include the selection of TRIO eligible students, cohort class and workshop creation and presentations, academic advisement, tutorial operation, retention activities, and transfer of participants to a 4-year institution of higher learning.
Assures appropriate utilization of grant funds using detailed fiscal accounting / line-item budget principles / tracking expenditures in Banner and Argos. Maintains accounting records for all expenditures ensuring that guidelines outlined in federal TRIO program regulations, EDGAR, OMB A-21 circular, and USU policy are strictly followed.
Develops and implements procedures for the preparation and timely submission of the federal annual performance report to the United Stated Department of Education. Coordinates data compilation and entry into the program's database to maintain compliance with grant requirements and guidelines.
Provides communication between the grant program and the Associate Vice President, the USU Blanding administrative team, faculty and staff.
Coordinates with other campus support programs to eliminate duplication of services and ensure that grant resources are being used efficiently.
Screens and selects qualified personnel for the various program activities following guidelines by the USU Human Resource Office. Coordinates and schedules training opportunities for staff members on federal legislation and regulations related to the grant program, as well as specific items relating to employment at USU Blanding.
Coordinates data compilation in the Banner Student Information System / data entry into the Blumen database software application in accordance with federal guidelines.
Serves as a liaison between the program and appropriate local, state and national agencies and organizations.
Teach the 1-credit USU 1040 Learning for College Success SSS Cohort Class each fall semester including financial and economic literacy education.
Teach the 1-credit USU 3400 Career Launch SSS Cohort Class each spring semester.
