About the Opportunity

Futura Energy Group is recruiting on behalf of an innovative energy technology client developing next-generation reactor systems for clean fuel production. They are seeking a Methane Reactor Design Engineer to lead design maturation and scale production of a proprietary thermocatalytic reactor. This is a high-impact, hands-on role ideal for an engineer passionate about building real-world energy hardware with global potential.

Role Overview

You will take full responsibility for advancing the design and deployment of a methane reactor system—refining mechanical, thermal, and fluid components for manufacturability and scale. With initial proof-of-concept systems already built and tested, your focus will be driving the transition from development to repeatable, field-ready production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and development of a low-cost, scalable methane reactor
  • Deliver multiple operational reactor units by 2025
  • Refine and optimize all mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems
  • Prioritize manufacturability and scale-readiness in all design decisions
  • Own delivery from design and prototyping through supply chain and deployment
  • Conduct and participate in internal technical reviews to drive design integrity and iteration
  • Evaluate and source key components for rapid prototyping and scaled builds
  • Support recruitment and mentorship for the broader engineering team

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, and system development
  • Proven ability to lead hardware projects from concept through implementation
  • Strong collaboration and vendor management skills
  • Comfortable making design decisions through both intuition and analysis
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience sizing and integrating systems such as heat exchangers, condensers, compressors, dryers, and valves across various pressure / temperature ranges
  • Familiarity with ASME pressure vessel standards and mechanical code
  • Understanding of common fabrication and installation practices for fluid systems
  • Experience sourcing parts and components for mid- to high-volume production
  • Knowledge of environmental qualification standards for outdoor / ruggedized hardware
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative, hardware-heavy development settings
  • Compensation & Logistics

  • Benefits : Equity participation, performance bonuses, 401(k), medical / dental / vision insurance, and flexible PTO
  • Travel : 5–10% travel may be required for site installation and deployment oversight
