Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown Telemetry position requiring proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and current IN or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital stepdown unit specializing in intermediate MS / cardiac carePatient ratios are 1 : 4 with a focus on cardiac, stroke, and some renal patientsAll beds able to accommodate hemodialysis, performed by an external companyFloats required to similar or lower acuity units within the hospital or nearby affiliates as neededNight shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30Weekend shifts required every other weekendNo on-call requirementsUses Cerner EMR systemExpected to provide specialized care to patients requiring cardiac monitoring and intermediate careWill encounter a patient population with complex cardiac and some renal needsFirst-time travelers are accepted for this assignmentReturn travelers must have a 3-year gap away from the facility before reapplyingPre-assignment completion of up to 8 hours of required modules is necessaryMust wear royal blue or white scrubs as part of the dress codeHoliday coverage required for at least one holiday if requesting time off during the holiday periodProfessional conduct and attendance policies are strictly enforcedRequirements
Active IN or compact state RN license required; pending licenses accepted if active by start dateMinimum 1 year of recent stepdown / telemetry experience required; 2 years preferredCertifications required : ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Must have experience with telemetry, cardiac, and stroke patient careExperience with cardiac drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and LasixProficiency in reading, identifying, and appropriately reacting to cardiac rhythms is mandatoryCerner EMR experience requiredMust pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz before assignmentMust live more than 50 miles from the facility; locals not acceptedBenefits
