Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a heart and vascular critical care unit in Massachusetts requiring strong critical care skills and a current MA RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is based in a heart and vascular critical care unit and surgical intensive care unit within a hospital setting
  • Unit includes 30 beds with 23 dedicated to medical and surgical cardiac patients, and the remainder for surgical intensive care
  • Common cases include STEMI, cardiac arrest, heart failure, post-cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements and TAVR), sepsis, ESRD, AKI requiring CRRT, post cardiac arrest care, respiratory failure, and COVID
  • Nurses utilize advanced cardiovascular and critical care devices including IABP, Impella CP & 5.5, Heartmate 2 & 3 LVAD, RVAD, ECMO, and CRRT
  • Nurses may float to InterCare or IMC units as needed
  • Typical patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 based on acuity
  • AM 12-hour shifts
  • Role involves the care of critically ill medical, surgical, and neuro critical care patients
  • Support is provided by ample ancillary staff and nurses out of count to aid in patient care
  • Float requirements are consistent with staff expectations
  • Preference given to strong ICU nurses with solid backgrounds

  • Active MA RN license required
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (all through AHA)
  • A minimum of 1 year of Level 1 ICU experience or 2 years of MICU experience preferred
  • Experience with advanced critical care devices and post-cardiac surgery care preferred
  • Submission requires application, skills checklist, license verification, NURSYS, two references, and copies of all active certifications
