Position Overview : The WNA helps run the day-to-day services of the WIC program by supporting nutrition education, participant screening, and basic administrative tasks. WNAs are essential frontline staff who help families access nutrition support and education while ensuring the WIC program runs smoothly. Their typical duties include :
What you will do at AMC :
Screens applicants for WIC to determine eligibility.Receives WIC participants / visitors and responds to inquiries about the program; this may include conducting Outreach duties as assigned.Assists in program orientation to new WIC participants.Obtains height and weight measurements on participants, according to federal and state program requirements, when clinic flow requires it.Refers participants to lab or performs in house Pronto. Or refers participant to other agencies / resources for further screening when necessary.Interviews WIC applicants and participants about dietary and health history. Explains to patients the purpose and scope of federal or state-funded programs and services of the organization.Schedules, conducts, and documents secondary nutrition education contacts for participants.Supports breastfeeding efforts and informs participants on breastfeeding issues. Makes referrals for additional help when needed.Facilitates group sessions covering nutrition-related topics. Assists in developing nutrition education class materials.Packs and delivers supplies for off-site clinics.Records and forwards vendor and participant complaints to program director, WIC Branch, or other Federal agency, as indicated by WIC regulations.Participates in the Quality Assurance process, including completing monthly peer reviews as required.Responsible for completing and checking error reports and inventory.Facilitates communication between the local WIC agency and the State WIC branch office as needed.Attends and participates in staff meetings and WIC workshops, trainings, and conferences as needed.Maintains adequate supplies, forms, and handouts; orders supplies as needed.May serve as LVL (Local Vendor Liaison), FMNP Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator, and / or NVRA Coordinator.Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Bilingual in Spanish required.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to perform basic math calculations, including handling U.S. currency and simple measurements.Must be able to type 45 WPM, is proficient with Internet and web-based systems, and MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).Salary Description
$26.00 per hour
