Description University of Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Community College, Office of Community and Continuing Education is seeking applications for the Health Continuing Education Non-Credit Instructor (Casual Hire). Position Details : Working Title : Health Continuing Education Non-Credit Instructor (Casual Hire) Position Number : Casual Hire Hiring Unit : Office of Community and Continuing Education - Health Location : Kapi‘olani Community College Date Posted : February 7, 2025 Closing Date : Continuous Salary : $20.00 - $65.00 per hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience) Schedule : Up to 19 hours per week Type : Temporary Funding : Revolving Continuation depends on performance, program needs, and funding renewal. Duties and Responsibilities : Develop and teach continuing education health classes. Subjects include but are not limited to Medical Coding, Medical Billing, Adult Residential Care Home, Emergency Medical Services, Phlebotomy, Massage Therapy, Optometry Assistant, Certified Dental Assistant, Community Dental Health Coordinator / Instructor, Pharmacy Technician, Certified Nurse Aide Instructor, Surgical Technology, and School Health Aide. Develop curriculum. Teach courses under general supervision. Classes may be scheduled in evenings, weekends, or via distance education. Communicate clearly and teach effectively to diverse audiences, including adult learners. Teaching is as needed, based on enrollment. Minimum Qualifications : Certificate / license, associate or bachelor's degree in the relevant field, or equivalent experience. Field-specific knowledge, skills, and expertise. Ability to provide a course proposal, description, and syllabus with student outcomes. Specific requirements vary by course (e.g., Medical Coding requires CPC certification and 5+ years of experience). Desirable Qualifications : Teaching experience at community college or university level. Ability to work with adult and non-traditional learners. Experience teaching online.
