Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL) a Planned Systems International (PSI) company is hiring for a Scientist Associate II / Scientist I in Richland WA.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland WA and operates manages and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering Inc. (Oak Ridge TN) and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Responsible for conducting scientific and / or analytical studies in support of 222-S Laboratory operations and developing conventional scientific solutions to technical task activities and objectives. Perform a variety of scientific duties including but not limited to : waste and environmental sampling / analysis process control support and data quality Vadose zone characterization interim and final corrective actions for soils performing and / or reviewing scientific calculations / analyses preparing specifications reports and data tables. Collaborate with other technical staff to devise new approaches to scientific problems. Develop technical plans and reports including integration with DOE-RL and other site contractors obtain customer and stakeholder acceptance. May serve as a lead by directing the analytical activities of Technicians.

• Under limited supervision assume technical responsibility for one or more related phases of a program. Cooperate with other engineers / scientists performing related phases of the technical work. Be cognizant of the work performed in other projects in field of technology.
• Accept the delegated technical responsibility for design application test or the preparation of specifications for systems materials equipment or components.
• Apply technical knowledge toward the reduction of the cost and improvement of the product where possible and incorporate new ideas resulting from engineering / scientific progress in the field.
• Identify collect and analyze technical information relevant to the quality and significance of a specific research and other scientific development issues.
• Demonstrates problem solving skills in making preliminary selections and adaptations of scientific alternatives.
• Prepare technical manuals reports and procedures.
• Prepare deliver and submit technical presentations for technical review meetings.
• Demonstrate creative ability through the ingenuity exercised in solving technical problems or preparation and presentation of technical papers articles talks or patent disclosures.
• Conduct site / area visits and investigate scientific problems propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations.
• Verify and comply with scientific documentation standards and test procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Grade 18 : $109013 - $137538

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidates education training and / or relevant experience.
