Hematology Oncology APP Fellowship

Overview

The Dartmouth Cancer Center Hematology Oncology Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship program is an intensive 12-month training program focused on preparing you for a successful career as a HemOnc generalist with opportunity for some subspecialty. Fellows will be integrated into the Advanced Practice Provider team and work alongside other APPs and Attendings.

Clinical experiences will take place at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), a quaternary care facility with air and ground transport services that care for Northern New England's most critically ill patients. Upon completion of the program, you will be equipped with the following skills :

• Comprehensive Health Assessment : The ability to perform advanced physical examinations, order diagnostic tests, and interpret results to identify symptoms of cancer or treatment complications
• Treatment Plan Implementation : In collaboration with oncologists, you will develop and manage treatment plans, which can include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and radiation therapy.
• Chemotherapy Management : This includes ordering and administering chemotherapy regimens, as well as managing associated side effects like nausea, fatigue, and neutropenia.
• Symptom and Toxicity Management : Expertise in managing common and complex side effects of cancer and its treatment, such as neuropathy, mucositis, and cancer-related fatigue.

The goal of the program is to help you grow and develop the acute and long-range medical and critical thinking skills required to build a successful career in Hematology and Oncology.

Curriculum :

Each month you will be paired with an Advanced Practice Provider for a clinical rotation with a subspecialty group, including one month at one of our satellite clinics to gain exposure to the role of a generalist provider in oncology. Your final two months you will have the opportunity to tailor your clinical curriculum to your chosen sub-specialty. Following each rotation there will a competency test and the opportunity for bidirectional feedback.

All offers are contingent on the successful completion of the standard DHMC pre-employment criminal background check, health screening, and clinical credentialing process before matriculation.
