The Senior Accountant Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Bank's financial reporting. This position is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reconciling general ledger accounts; managing month-end and year-end closings; supporting internal and external audits; and assisting in regulatory reporting and compliance. The Senior Accountant partners closely with management to ensure that accounting practices align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all applicable banking regulations.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and post journal entries ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts, including loan, investment, and deposit-related accounts.
- Review and verify daily general ledger transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with preparation of Call Reports and other regulatory filings.
- Support the Controller and CFO in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Review and monitor accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset schedules.
- Ensure proper documentation and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Coordinate with external auditors, examiners, and internal audits to provide requested information and respond to inquiries.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of current banking regulations, accounting standards, and industry trends.

Education : Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.Experience : Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a banking or financial services environment.Certification : CPA or CPA candidate preferred.Skills :o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Fiserv, or similar core banking systems preferred).
o Strong understanding of general ledger structures, reconciliations, tax reporting, and financial reporting.
o Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail.
o Ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Location is the Houston area on the West and / or South side of the beltway, not downtown.
