Position Summary :

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Product Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting LaMotte’s chemical reagent products and services, providing technical support for those products, and assisting customers in understanding the applications and uses of our products. This role requires a combination of scientific knowledge and exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between our products and our customers’ needs.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Product Expertise : Develop in-depth knowledge of our chemical reagents, including their properties, applications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Customer Support : Provide technical assistance and guidance to customers via phone, email, and chat regarding product selection, usage, and safety protocols.
  • Market Analysis : Analyze market trends, competitor products, and customer feedback to help inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Sales Support : Collaborate with the sales team to provide product knowledge during customer presentations and assist in the development of sales materials.
  • Documentation : Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, safety information, and application notes.
  • Problem Solving : Address customer inquiries and issues related to product performance, providing effective solutions in a timely manner.

Miscellaneous :

  • Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to :
  • o Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event.

    o 5-S program in department or other areas assigned.

    o DMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both the departments and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.

  • Completes monthly safety observations.
  • Assists in other department activities as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned. (Such duties may or may not be essential functions of the job.)
  • Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Education : Preferred bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience : 2+ years of experience as a product specialist, technical support, or similar role within the chemical industry.
  • Knowledge : Strong understanding of chemical reagents, their properties, and applications in various industries (e.g., pharmaceuticals, research, manufacturing).
  • Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex information in an understandable manner.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Strong relationship-building skills; ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with CRM tools is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving : Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Environmental Factors & Mental / Physical Demands :

    Primarily works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Requires prolonged sitting at a desk using a computer, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, and transporting up to 50 pounds. Walks to and from other departments throughout the company, printers and fax machines, meetings, restrooms, etc. May, on occasion, drive to and attend an off-site meeting or training seminar or pick up items locally for a company-sponsored event.
