Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring WA or compact RN licensure and current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care settingUnit includes 34 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum bedsHigh volume unit with 150-180 births per monthPatient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 1 : 2 L&D and 1 : 3-4 coupletsCommon cases include high risk pregnancies, preeclampsia, diabetes, and positive substance useDrips managed include magnesium, Pitocin, and insulinEpic EMR is used for documentationShifts are 12 hours, night shift, with every other weekend required (Fri and Sat)Standby response time within 45 minutes may be requiredNo floating outside of Mother Baby / Postpartum unit; LDRP experience requiredResponsibilities include independent management of laboring patients, supporting deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and providing immediate newborn careStaff includes a 24 / 7 surgical tech, OBGYN hospitalist, NNP in nursery, and OB anesthesia providerTransitioning babies and postpartum care are expected competenciesBlock scheduling is available and holiday coverage rotates with permanent staffOrientation includes a day for compliance and Epic training, and 2-3 unit-specific shiftsScrubs and locker are providedUnit manager fosters a supportive environment with feedback and expects adaptability to unit workflows and feedbackRequirements
Active WA or compact RN license is required at the time of applicationMinimum of 2 years' Labor & Delivery nursing experience (1 year considered with significant travel experience)Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP are requiredLDRP experience required with proficiency in attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sectionsMust be skilled in assisting with newborn transitions and careExperience titrating drips such as magnesium, Pitocin, and insulin is necessaryAbility to use Epic EMR for chartingIntermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring certification is preferredBenefits
