Position Overview

This position is accountable for the coordination of the Information Technology (IT) current databases used byProject Implementation and assisting in the coordination of the training for the Bureau of Project Implementationpersonnel. This position is also responsible for assisting with the bureaus budget commodities and equipmentmanagement.

Essential Functions

• Administers the districts construction management support system.
• Determine the needs for computer software and hardware within the bureau.
• Receives new computers and tests them before distribution to office and field personnel.
• Trains employees how to use the personal computers (PC) and the current construction management system and troubleshoots in-use computers.
• Assist in the development and administration of the bureaus budget.
• Prepares requisitions maintains records of expenditures and keeps inventory of all equipment and vehicles.
• Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

NOTICE : Please note that this position is one of many IDOT positions that has been identified as one that is properly a Personnel Code-covered role. This change does not affect the union status listed duties job responsibilities or working title of Office / Computer Support Technician but does provide the position with additional job protections not previously available. This position will change from the Engineering Technician IV classification to Transportation Information Services Specialist II in the near future as part of the completion of this ongoing administrative alignment project.
