A cardiac rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist utilizes the clinical process to offer a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to overall cardiovascular risk reduction, foster healthy behaviors, reduce disability, and promote an active lifestyle for patients with cardiovascular disease. The Exercise Physiologist works with a registered nurse to serve as a liaison between the patient and physician to facilitate expeditious and effective medical care. Participates in running Project Heart Smart when offered and in the Heart Beats Volunteer group as needed. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree in Exercise Science required. Telemetry trained. Exercise training, group dynamic skill, or experience related to primary or secondary disease prevention.
EXPERIENCE
Cardiology, physical rehabilitation, community health, teaching, exercise training or public health training .
LICENSURE
Telemetry trained, Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular disease, telemetry trained, exercise physiology, cardiac risk factor modification, counseling techniques, nutrition, group dynamic and cardiovascular health education principles.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk and hear. The employee is also required to demonstrate and model aerobic, strength training and flexibility exercises to classes. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. the employee should be a passionate advocate of a Heart Heathy Lifestyle.
