LHH Recruitment Solutions is confidentially leading a search for a college in the San Francisco Bay Area to hire an interim Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, planning, and strategy. The CFO ensures financial integrity, transparency, and sustainability, supporting the college’s educational mission and long‑term goals in alignment with non‑profit values and compliance requirements.
Title : Interim CFO
Compensation : $92 to $107 / hr
Duration :
~6 to 18 month assignment
Work Schedule :
25 to 30 hours per week, sometimes up to 40 hours

1 day per week in office

Immediately, ideally before end of year
Responsibilities
Financial leadership & strategy to support the college's mission.
Advise the President, Board of Trustees and senior leadership on financial planning, investments and resource allocation.
Lead the preparation, management and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
Oversee compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as grant and donor requirements.
Ensure proper stewardship of restricted and unrestricted funds, including donor contributions and government grants.
Serve as a liaison with stakeholders, including faculty, staff, donors and external partners. Communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years as a Controller or CFO at a non‑profit organization
5+ years working experience in higher education. Working at a college or university as an accounting professional (not just enrolled as a student) is key to this search. If you have this work experience, be sure to reach out to me directly so I do not miss your application.
