Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Amarillo, TX 79106 (Texas Panhandle healthcare jobs)

Unit : Medical-Surgical / Orthopedic (35 beds)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 1 / 2025 – End : 3 / 2 / 2026)

Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19 : 00 – 07 : 30)

Weekly Hours : 36

Patient Ratio : 1 : 6

EMR : EPIC (recent experience required)

Travel Requirement : Must reside at least 50 miles from facility

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1460 - $1500

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state

Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg RN experience

BLS and NIHSS certifications required (NIHSS assistance available)

Recent EPIC charting experience (within last 6 months)

Experience with orthopedic and medical-surgical patient populations

Ability to float to units of equal or lesser acuity

First-time travelers and experienced travel nurses welcome

Scrub color : Any (no logos)

Must live at least 50 miles from the facility

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Med / Surg-Ortho unit

Monitor, assess, and document patient status using EPIC EMR

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, etc.)

Perform wound care, manage peripheral lines, and assist with total joint replacement patients

Follow isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management protocols

Float to similar acuity units as needed

Complete onsite orientation and required training modules
