PCU Registered Nurse Job Details – Augusta, GA

Assignment Length : 12 weeks (Travel Nursing Contract)

Location : Augusta, Georgia 30901

Start Date : December 1, 2025

End Date : February 23, 2026

Shift : Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19 : 00 - 07 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1660 - $1700

Setting : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown

Patient Population : Adolescents to Geriatrics

Unit Size : 36 beds, average daily census ~30

Patient Ratio : 1 : 4-5 (high acuity, high staffing ratio)

Charting System : Epic EMR

Scrub Color : Navy Blue

Floating : Yes, within facility

Weekends : Every other weekend required

Holiday Coverage : Must be available for scheduled holidays during assignment

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in PCU, Stepdown, or Med / Surg Telemetry nursing

Active Georgia or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required)

Experience with Epic charting system preferred

Proven ability to manage high patient ratios in a fast-paced clinical environment

Strong clinical skills in cardiac telemetry, titrating cardiac drips, neuro, respiratory, and mixed medical care

Willingness to float to other units within the healthcare facility

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions accepted)

Compliance with all facility onboarding and orientation requirements

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to intermediate and stepdown patients, including neuro, cardiac, respiratory, and mixed medical cases

Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, titrate cardiac and insulin drips, and manage vasoactive medications

Perform and manage care for central lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and feeding tubes

Respond to rapid response and code situations as needed

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, Radiology, and Rapid Response

Accurately document patient care in Epic EMR

Educate and support patients and their families

Adhere to infection control and safety protocols

Float to other nursing units within the facility as required
