Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position is part of Hunt, Guillot & Associates, LLC's ("the Company") Executive Office team, providing primary support to principals and clients of Primrose Capital, LLC - which is the Hunt Family Office. This role will lead the development and delivery of the Company's Family Office & Closely Held Business Tax practice. The position will provide high-quality tax planning, tax compliance, and advisory services to Hunt family entities, the Company's Principals, related family enterprises, and a select group of external clients aligned with the Company's long-term relationship model.
The candidate must be results-driven, highly confidential, and professionally mature in handling sensitive tax and financial information. The candidate must demonstrate strong technical tax expertise, excellent communication skills, and a solutions-oriented, relationship-focused mindset. This individual will play a critical leadership role in building the Tax & Accounting capabilities of the Family Office and must be committed to accuracy, timely execution, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Review and interpret complex K-1s from real estate, private equity, venture capital, and other alternative investments.
- Lead preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, trusts, and closely held entities.
- Support trust, estate, and gift planning including preparation of Forms 709 and fiduciary returns.
- Develop and execute tax planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals, multi-entity structures, and family investment vehicles.
- Coordinate with estate attorneys on generational planning, charitable structures, and trust administration matters.
- Advise on entity selection, restructuring, multi-state considerations, basis analysis, and wealth-transfer strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
Family Office & Closely Held Business Support
Lead the quarterly and annual estimated tax process for Hunt family entities, HGA-related organizations, and select external clients - including calculation, planning, communication, and coordination of payments.Provide tax planning and compliance support to HGA and related Hunt family entities.Coordinate with external advisors, including legal, estate, and investment professionals, to deliver integrated Family Office solutions.Develop tax projections, year-end planning models, and multi-entity estimates to ensure timely and accurate filings.Maintain clear documentation and communication of estimates, deadlines, and planning recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.Assist with cash flow planning, net worth reporting, and entity-level financial coordination as part of broader Family Office activities.Leadership, Workflow Management & Process Development
Establish and manage a scalable tax practice including development of workflows, review processes, templates, and standard operating procedures.Supervise onsite tax staff and outsourced resources ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.Review work prepared by staff and provide coaching, technical support, and performance feedback.Manage engagement scheduling, deadlines, and prioritization to ensure timely delivery.Develop and track key metrics for practice performance including realization, utilization, and client satisfaction.Lead technology and process-improvement initiatives, including workflow automation and system enhancements.Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, delivering clear communication, proactive planning, and high-quality advisory services.Participate in growth initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve service quality and selectively bring in new clients aligned with HGA's values.Engage directly with principals, executives, and key decision-makers, maintaining the highest level of professionalism and discretion.Other Responsibilities
Support the Family Office's fractional CFO team on tax-related matters impacting financial reporting, budgeting, or business structuring.Coordinate with HGA internal teams (Finance, IT, Software Development) to implement systems improvements and automation - leveraging the full service suite of HGA personnel.Assist with special projects, including entity restructures, transaction support, and analysis related to family investment strategy.Any other tasks as directed by the Chief Financial Officer.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree (Master's) or taxation specialty is a plus.CPA license required.7+ years tax experience, including at least 3 years of experience managing engagements in a public accounting or family office environment.Demonstrated ability to review complex individual, partnership, trust, and S-corporation returns.Strong technical tax knowledge, including multi-entity structures, multi-state issues, and high-net-worth planning.Experience supervising and developing staff.Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficiency with tax software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and willingness to learn new systems (Addepar, reporting tools, etc.).Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise independent judgment.Highly organized, with strong time-management abilities and the capacity to balance multiple priorities.Candidate must live within daily commuting distance of Ruston, LA or be willing to relocate and must work on-site for at least the first year.Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, UHNW Family Office environment with a high degree of maturity and professional polish.HGA is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
