You may work in hospitals, clinics, or home health environments, often on 12-hour shifts as part of interdisciplinary teams.

Recommended qualifications include completion of a degree program in respiratory therapy from an accredited institution, certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), and state licensure for Florida. Most agencies prefer at least 1 year of experience, though some may accept 6 months. Additional certifications or experience may be required for specialty areas.
