Overview

Advanced Technician – Welding Quality & Training (Bilingual – English / Spanish) at Top Metal Solutions. Location : Adkins, TX 78101. Job Type : Full-Time - On-Site (W-2 Hourly). Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 45 PM (45-minute lunch).

Position Summary

We are seeking a bilingual Advanced Technician - Welding Quality & Training to serve as the on-the-floor welding expert. This position combines hands-on welding, quality control, training, and leadership over welding parameters and standards to elevate the performance of the entire team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify welding parameters and inspect welds on the production line to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 / D1.3 and internal standards.
  • Authority to stop or adjust processes when critical non-conformities are detected.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Use measurement and calibration instruments such as fillet gauges, micrometers, and calipers to validate weld quality.
  • Conduct basic destructive and non-destructive weld tests when required.
  • Train and mentor new welders, conduct welding tests for new hires, and support internal certification efforts.
  • Operate MIG and Flux welding equipment for critical tasks or when additional hands-on support is needed.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to improve welding processes and troubleshoot issues.
  • Track and report KPIs including quality metrics, non-conformities, and training outcomes.
  • Maintain proper use and control of tools, consumables, and welding equipment.
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards and consistent PPE use across all welding operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Authorization to work in the United States (valid work permit or status required).
  • Bilingual English / Spanish required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in welding / fabrication in an industrial environment.
  • Expert-level proficiency in MIG / Flux welding processes, AWS D1.1 / D1.3 standards, and WPS implementation.
  • Hands-on experience training, evaluating, and mentoring welders.
  • Proficiency in measurement and inspection tools for weld quality validation.
  • Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
  • OSHA training and AWS certifications (CWI or equivalent) preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in environments with heat, dust, or noise.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Regular lifting, bending, and material handling.
  • Standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Consistent use of PPE as required by OSHA standards.

  • Starting pay : $23.00 per hour (W-2 employment).
