Medical Director, Labor and Delivery – Vassar Brothers Medical Center – Poughkeepsie, New York (75 minutes north of New York City)

Vassar Brothers Medical Center, located 75 minutes north of New York City, has an excellent opportunity for a Medical Director of the Labor and Delivery Department. This is a unique opportunity to be a clinical leader in a growing health system that has an established center of excellence in Women’s Health. The Medical Director will lead a group of obstetricians and work collaboratively with nursing leadership, anesthesia, and neonatology to ensure the highest quality, evidence-based care.

The Division of OB / GYN has offices located in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Highland, NY. The practice admits exclusively to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Our busy Labor and Delivery Unit sees about 2,800 babies born each year. We have a level III NICU staffed by neonatologists, as well as an excellent Perinatology program. In addition, we have fellowship trained breast surgeons and GYN-oncologists that are located on the Vassar Hospital campus.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and qualifications :

• At least 3 years of practice, with preferred experience as an accomplished member of a leadership team of a large, community teaching hospital and / or academic medical center.
• Interest in working with a collaborative team.
• Experience working with midwives preferred.
• The candidate must be MD / DO with completed OBGYN residency training and board certification.
• NY state licensure (or eligibility to obtain NY state licensure) is required.
