Director Of Libraries
Snow College invites applications for its Director of Libraries position to begin on January 1, 2026. The Director of Libraries is based in Ephraim, Utah, and oversees the academic libraries on both the Ephraim and Richfield campuses. The position is a twelve-month administrative position reporting directly to the provost.
Qualifications
Master's degree in library science or closely related degree from a regionally accredited institution
Experience in a major library or comprehensive library system, with experience at the administrative / supervisory level
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of library science
Considerable knowledge of and experience with budgeting in an academic environment
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees and with the public
Comprehensive knowledge of systems and computer applications in libraries
Major Responsibilities / Duties
Directs system administration and computer services for the library
Directs Technical Services (selecting, acquiring, cataloging, classifying, processing, maintaining library materials, etc.)
Formulates Library department policies and procedures in alignment with of college policy
Supervises the review, evaluation, and purchasing of library supplies, books, and audio-visual materials
Plans, prepares, and administers department budget for operation within fiscal constraints, maintains all financial records
Interviews and recommends hiring new, full-time, and part-time personnel and initiates or reviews actions for terminations
Supervises training and development of staff, including annual performance evaluations
Serves on committees and councils at the college and state level
Directs library self-studies and accreditation activities
Supervises grant writing for archives, library materials, public services, and exhibitions
Supervises fundraising and public-facing library activities
Leads efforts to increase student services and involve students in library functions
Directs Public Service functions (outreach, circulation, reserve, instruction, interlibrary loan, security, etc.)
Directs the Richfield campus library
