Interventional Radiology Technologist - Per Diem

The Interventional Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist in conducting prescribed specialized radiologic procedures in Interventional Radiology.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an Interventional Radiology Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes :

1. Maintains adequate inventory of materials and various supplies and recommends procurement of necessary supplies.

2. Coordinates scheduling of patients with the admitting department, referring physicians, nursing staff and inter-departmental sections.

3. Documents all Medical Center charges and Radiology charges for each exam.

4. Provides instruction to technologists and auxiliary personnel through formal and informal education.

5. Maintains standards of radiation safety throughout the department.

6. Assists Radiologists and other qualified physicians (under Radiologist supervision) in performing Interventional Radiology procedures.

7. Select proper protocols for identified procedure.

8. Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.

9. Ensures patients' safe transfer into and out of Interventional Radiology suite.

10. Prepares images for review by radiologist.

11. Organizes and coordinates studies with previous x-ray studies.

12. Adheres to the principals of image gently & image wisely.

13. Follow & adheres to infection control guidelines and sterile techniques.

14. Maintains Interventional Radiology room for cleanliness, supplies, and etc., following each exam.

15. Operates radiographic equipment integrally with mechanical injector at injection rate and amount directed by radiologist.

16. Performs required daily clerical duties, which include the use of EPIC, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital.

17. Responsible for scheduled shifts.

18. Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.

19. On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.

20. Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.

21. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and / or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and / or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental / age, educational, literacy, etc.).

22. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

23. Performs specific daily and monthly QA.

24. Other duties and / or projects as assigned.

25. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

26. Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and / or GED equivalent programs.

2. Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

4. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and / or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred :

1. One-year experience in Interventional procedures.

Licenses and Certifications Required :

1. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification

2. NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R.)

3. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position

Licenses and Certifications Preferred :

1. VI Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or CV Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $43.63 Hourly

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
