High School - School Director
The Director will be the chief academic officer for the Excel Center; provide hands on approach to leadership in the directing, planning, managing, and coordinating of the educational goals and vision of the school; ensures that instructors and school curriculum are applied according to the principles of the Excel Center model and that the school is meeting the desired outcomes; and provides support and leadership to staff of 20-25. Essential functions include : supervision and management of instructors and staff, creating and maintaining a safe and secure educational environment for 200-400 students and managing the fiscal activities of the school. The position will work with the leadership of Goodwill LEADS, Inc. in establishing school goals and objectives and reports to the Vice President.

Responsibilities : Duties
Execute recruitment strategies to attract prospective students through outreach and events.Develops strategies, goals, and objectives for the school; manages implementation of objectives.Participates in the development of overall educational strategies.Coordinates regular meetings with school leadership team comprised of Lead Teacher, Lead Coach, DIC Coordinator and Office Manager.Develops agenda and facilitates staff meetings, and delegates tasks appropriately.Plans and / or conducts professional development opportunities for staff.Assists instructors in setting priorities, facilitate meetings and developing their leadership skills.Monitors and tracks academic data on a regular basis; presents data during leadership and staff meetings as needed.Work in collaboration with Lead Coach and Lead Teacher to execute effective course scheduling within student management system.Serve as school liaison to The Excel Center Network of schools; collaborate with other Excel School Directors to share best practices, etc.Collaborates with Lead Coach and Lead Teacher in planning and implementation of recruitment and retention strategies.Provides leadership in the development of new partnerships and / or methodologies in response to the changing needs concerning students, test results and / or Indiana Academic Standards.Works with the school’s leadership team to ensure appropriate building management coverage for the Excel Center’s hours of operation.Represents the school, as appropriate, in community planning and policy making activities.Demonstrates relentless drive to improve education and career outcomes for all Excel students.Attend all team and professional development meetings and special events including scheduled open houses, testing sessions, and orientations, etc.Hires and supervises staff; ensures appropriate training and evaluations are conducted regularly.Initiate and maintains contact with key community partners (community agencies, educational institutions, and employers) to enhance the menu of support services provided to students.Works with the Vice President to manage the fiscal accountability for the school.Ensures accuracy of data maintained in the student information system and provides support as need for submitting required state reporting.Performs other related duties as assigned regarding administration, planning, and coordinating.Demonstrates Goodwill’s mission and values (work, ethics, respect, development).Qualifications : Education
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, Master’s degree preferred.Qualifications
Flexible availability for daytime and evening classes.Current Indiana Teaching License required.Current Indiana Secondary Administrator’s License preferred.5+ years in a school-related leadership role.Prior experience managing groups of professionals preferred.Strong communicator at a variety of levels. Demonstrates effective presentation skills.Strong organizational skills; extremely careful attention to detail and follow-through.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze data for informed decision making.Ability to work well with a team; ability to bridge and enhance professional learning communities.Ability to create, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; energetic self-starter; flexible, able to work autonomously, or with a team, as well as take direction as needed.Experience working with high school students in a non-traditional setting and / or in adult education setting highly preferred.Experience working with a diverse, non-traditional, inner-city population preferred.Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks : Google applications, Microsoft applications, Excel, Word, and web browser.Current driver’s license and adequate automobile insurance required.Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen.About Company
The Excel Center – Northern Indiana is a high-quality, free, public high school for adult learners 18 and older. We provide coursework toward completing the required credits for students to earn an Indiana Core 40 diploma (not a TASC / GED / HSE program). Our students benefit from a structured learning environment with direct / face-to-face instruction, an accelerated format, small classes, and individualized attention that meets the unique needs of adult learners. All students are assigned a life coach who provides academic and personal counseling to support students pursuing their goals.
