Maternal-Fetal Medicine Faculty (Obstetrics and Gynecology)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine is seeking several exceptional faculty candidates in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) to join our dynamic team. This full-time, non-tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of care in a field that impacts the lives of our community. We are looking for a passionate educator and skilled clinician to help shape the future of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

We are seeking candidates with demonstrated excellence in patient care and clinical teaching who are enthusiastic about working with a multidisciplinary, collaborative team, contributing to the academic mission of the Department. Candidates with some experience in an academic setting or desire to be in an academic practice will be given preference.

We are affiliated with University Medical Center a Level IV Maternity Unit, and El Paso Children’s Hospital which is a 135–bed hospital, adjoining pediatric emergency room, operating rooms, Level IV 50-bed NICU (7 Neonatologists), Pediatric Blood and Cancer Center, 22-bed PICU, and 14 specialty clinics including pediatric surgical subspecialties.

Responsibilities

Join an encouraging MFM team comprising of MFMs, sonographers, NPs, RNs, CNMs, medical assistants, and patient support staff on a recently remodeled US unit with a fully integrated reporting system in the outpatient area.

Telemedicine capabilities providing ultrasound and consultation to critical access shortage hospitals.

Actively provide comprehensive and compassionate care to high risk OB patients with a wide range of complex obstetrics, gynecologic, medical and surgical needs.

• Perform both routine and complex obstetrical surgeries and procedures, if so desire.
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for patients through our perinatal network which includes a cohesive, highly caring NICU team and pediatric surgical subspecialties.
• Contribute to the educational mission of the Department by teaching and mentoring medical students and residents.
• Lead and collaborate on ongoing MFM quality / safety metrics and other scholarly projects within MFM, with the goal of advancing the field and improving patient outcomes.
• Share inpatient consult service. No in-house call of L&D, if desired. Opportunities for extra-pay for L&D call and off the next day.
• Work with a clinically strong laborist group that follows routine protocols who uses the consult service judiciously and respectfully.
• Engage in community outreach and education to raise awareness about obstetrical and medical health.
• Participate in Departmental and Institutional committees, contributing to the governance and advancement of our academic community.
