Job Summary

The Innovation Lab Manager leads lab programs that validate system-level technologies across emerging domains including power, thermal, control, and mechanical systems. This role is responsible for managing lab resources, ensuring safety and compliance, fostering innovation, and aligning lab activities with strategic product goals. In addition, this role and this team will support system level demonstrations for customers.

The Innovation Lab Manager will establish and evolve lab capabilities to support rapid prototyping, system integration testing, and cross-functional collaboration. This role serves as a key interface between engineering, product management, and technology partners to accelerate Vertiv's innovation pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain lab infrastructure to support validation of emerging technologies.
  • Lead cross-functional lab programs to evaluate new concepts, prototype systems, and validate performance, safety, and interoperability.
  • Manage lab personnel, equipment, and processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, customers and external partners to align lab efforts with strategic product development goals.
  • Establish and promote best practices for innovation testing, data collection, and reporting across global teams, including gathering of VOC.
  • Define and implement lab protocols for advanced power conversion, thermal management, intelligent controls, and modular mechanical systems.
  • Support FAT / FWT testing and system-level integration for prototype and pilot products.
  • Drive continuous improvement in lab capabilities, safety standards, and innovation culture.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and participate in early-stage concept evaluations.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or a related field; MS or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in lab management, product validation, or R&D leadership.
  • Proven track record of managing cross-disciplinary technology validation programs.
  • Strong understanding of power systems, thermal technologies, control systems, and mechanical integration.
  • Experience with system-level testing, prototyping, and innovation methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and collaborate across functions and geographies.
