Responsibilities
Follow established standards of nursing practices and implement community programs, policies and proceduresObtain report from nurse being relieved and provide report to nurse coming on duty; record sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary.Conduct resident rounds daily, reporting problems to supervisor and initiating corrective actionIdentify safety hazards and initiate corrective action immediatelyIdentify resident problems and emergency situations and initiate emergency care per physician’s orders in the absence of a physicianProvide supervision to direct care associates providing direct resident careAttend staff meetings, in-service classes and committee meetings as assignedReview the Glucometer Control Log prior to testing for blood sugar levelsFollow staffing guidelines and make nursing assignments according to qualifications of staff and characteristics of the resident populationComply with community processes related to pain assessment / management / documentation, providing treatments and delivering medicationsCompetently perform basic nursing skills as per your licensureFollow Community discharge / transfer procedure / documentation and coordinate discharge / transfer with other departments, physicians and ancillary service providersSupervise response to resident’s call for assistanceListen to resident, family, or physician concerns and initiate corrective action and / or report concerns to Nursing Supervisor.Count narcotics, check emergency kit and exchange keys each shiftQualifications
