Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Morgantown, WV (Zip : 26506) – West Virginia nursing jobs

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care – Trauma, General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery

Unit : 7 East Trauma & General Surgery Inpatient (Stepdown & Med-Surg Floor)

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract

Start Date : November 21, 2025

End Date : February 20, 2026

Shift : 12-hour night shifts (Weekend Nights : Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday)

Hours per Week : 36 guaranteed

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1,860 - $2,000

Patient Ratios : 1 : 6 (Floor), 1 : 3 (Stepdown)

Charting System : EPIC

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – open to out-of-state nurses willing to obtain West Virginia licensure

BLS certification required

Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience (Stepdown, Cardiac Stepdown, or similar units preferred)

Proficiency in complex wound care, drains, medical devices, traumatic injuries, chest tubes, respiratory support, TBI, and spinal cord injuries

Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips

COVID-19 vaccination required (medical / religious exemptions considered)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Provide exceptional nursing care to trauma, general surgery, bariatric, and med-surg patients in both stepdown and floor settings

Manage complex wound care, drains, and medical devices

Care for patients with traumatic injuries, including chest tubes and respiratory support

Monitor, interpret, and validate cardiac rhythms

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including care management, surgical / medical services, and rehabilitation

Float to similar acute care units as needed

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records
