Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Special Projects, will perform but not be limited to specific and general carpentry work in the alterations, remodeling and repair of buildings, kitchens, roofs, stairs, ceilings, doors, windows, and any other building related structures. This will include but not be limited to the layout and installation of wood and metal partitions from blueprints and verbal directions, possess the ability to layout and install all suspend ceiling systems, vinyl and ceramic wall and floor tiles, installation of metal and wood doors units and all types of finish hardware (cylindrical, mortise and panic hardware). Must have a background in the installation of drywall and experience with drywall taping. Must also be proficient in exterior envelope construction (windows, siding, and roofing).
Requirements
Must have a background in and an understanding for both residential and commercial construction. Must be able to work independently and with others. Must be able to read and interpret construction documents and specifications and possess the ability / experience to estimate project duration hours and stock required to complete an assigned project. Must have experience using all hand and power tools in the trade, understanding the proper use and how to maintain them. Must be willing to work in all weather conditions and have the ability to climb a ladder and work at heights. Must have High School / vocational diploma. Must maintain a valid driver's license. Must have at least five years recent, full-time working experience as a Journeyman Carpenter. Must be able to communicate orally, read, comprehend, write, reason and analyze and perform calculations. Must be able to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk, climb, push / pull, kneel, handle objects (manual dexterity), reach above shoulder level, and use fine finger movements. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds. The employee will be subject to the following environmental conditions on the job : exposure to excessive noise, will be around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and / or humidity, exposure to dust, fumes, gasses, will drive motorized equipment, will work in confined quarters with proper PPE.
