Overview
Venture Dynamics is seeking skilled and experienced Marine Electricians to install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems aboard Navy and commercial vessels. Electricians will run and terminate cable, install panels and equipment, perform electrical testing, and support system upgrades and modifications in shipboard environments. This position requires strong electrical knowledge, blueprint interpretation, familiarity with shipboard systems, and strict adherence to NAVSEA, OSHA Maritime, and shipyard electrical safety requirements.
Per diem may be available on select projects depending on contract requirements and travel distance.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain shipboard electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, motors, panels, controllers, and auxiliary equipment
- Pull, route, hang, and secure cable and wireways throughout passageways, overheads, bulkheads, and machinery spaces
- Terminate cables using proper lugs, connectors, and shipboard termination standards
- Perform continuity, polarity, insulation resistance (megger), and operational testing as required
- Install electrical panels, switchboards, controllers, and associated equipment according to NAVSEA and shipyard specifications
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and support corrective actions and system restorations
- Assist with system upgrades, equipment replacements, and ship alteration (SHIPALT) projects
- Use hand tools, multimeters, meggers, and electrical test equipment safely and effectively
- Work in confined spaces, tanks, voids, overheads, and tight compartments aboard vessels
- Follow NAVSEA electrical safety procedures, lockout / tagout requirements, and OSHA Maritime standards
- Maintain tool control, housekeeping, and safe work practices throughout all assigned tasks
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of marine or industrial electrical experience, preferably in ship repair environmentsAbility to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and shipboard electrical documentationProficiency in cable pulling, termination, splicing, and panel or equipment installationStrong knowledge of AC / DC systems, power distribution, motor controls, and shipboard electrical equipmentExperience using electrical testing equipment including multimeters, meggers, and continuity testersMust supply and maintain a personal tool set appropriate for marine electrical workAbility to work aboard vessels, in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding environmentsAbility to lift 4060 lbs and safely handle cable, wire, and electrical componentsMust pass background check and drug screeningAbility to obtain DBIDS / base access as requiredReliable transportation and consistent attendanceAbility to work overtime, nights, weekends, and variable shifts as neededPreferred Qualifications
Experience working on Navy vessels or to NAVSEA electrical standardsFamiliarity with shipboard power distribution, control systems, and combat systems interfacesExperience performing cable testing, troubleshooting, and electrical system restorationsOSHA-10 MaritimeAbility to wear a respirator when required for hot-work, blasting, paint, insulation, or confined-space supportExperience supporting multi-trade marine repair projectsAdditional Information
