The Role
Under general direction, the House Counselor monitors the therapeutic environment and program systems to ensure safety, security, and efficient delivery of client services. Responsibilities include overseeing scheduled treatment activities, managing external appointments and transportation, and supporting program coordination in collaboration with management to uphold the mission of Samaritan Daytop Village.

What You Will Do
Supervise and monitor the therapeutic environment to ensure behavioral guidelines are followed and a positive milieu is maintained.Manage daily program schedules and ensure participation in scheduled activities.Ensure the facilitys cleanliness, security, and safety practices are followed.Conduct mandated fire drills and evacuations as needed.Administer breathalyzer tests and observe urine or oral specimen collections as required.Manage medication procedures, including checking in medications and observing medication passes for adherence.Perform safety checks and room inspections to identify unsafe conditions or substance use.Conduct physical searches of clients and their belongings following policy, including the use of handheld metal detectors if necessary.Assist management in room searches to ensure safety.Review and coordinate external client appointments and dispatch transportation accordingly.Distribute transportation fare and review appointment escorts for appropriateness.Report client attendance in accordance with DSS / HRA protocols and agency policies.Maintain confidentiality in compliance with 42 CFR and HIPAA regulations.If applicable, oversee kitchen and food prep to ensure health regulations are met.Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications
Who You Will Be
Within 90 days of hire, obtain FDNY certification as a Fire Drill Conductor, Fire Guard, or Fire Safety Coordinator for Downstate Residential locations.Willingness to obtain CPR certification within 90 days of hire.High School diploma or equivalent.Experience or interest in working with substance use or mental health populations, including lived experience or internships.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR).Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.Ability to maintain confidentiality.J-18808-Ljbffr
