About The Position

Certifications : BLS required; ACLS preferred

Must-Have : Previous Charge RN experience highly preferred; manager willing to accept travelers without this if they are willing to be trained as Charge and to work in that capacity as needed during their contract.

Description :

As soon as possible start needed.

This position will encompass various patient types including total joints (knees, hips), general medical-surgical cases including appendicitis, colectomies, small bowel, urology (turp, cysto), CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, and diabetes.

Candidates will be caring for patients with addictions in addition to other medical issues.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 during days and 1 : 6-7 during nights.

Tech ratios are 1 : 10-12.

Skills for the RN include managing chest tubes, tracheostomies, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, and IV antibiotics.

Reading and interpreting cardiac strips is preferable, but not required.

Tech responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, feeding, tray setup, answering call bells, vital signs, blood sugars, ambulating patients, and range of motion exercises.

Support on the unit includes a charge nurse who takes assignment most shifts, along with respiratory therapy and hospitalists available 24 / 7.

There is centralized telemonitoring available.

The facility has one person to assist with difficult IVs and central lines, but nurses are expected to make two attempts to start their own IVs before asking for assistance.

Rapid response is attended by the in-house provider, respiratory staff, and nursing supervisors.

Floating may occur to the ICU for medical-surgical level patients or to the ED for assistance.

Weekend rotations are every other weekend.

Holiday expectations are 2 out of 4 as needed.

Approval for time off must be sought from management.

Scrub color is any professional color.
