Clinical Coding Auditor & Trainer

Location : Remote (Travel to New York twice annually)

Employment Type : Full-Time, Direct Hire / Permanent

Compensation : $55,100 – $99,000 annually

Position Overview

We are seeking a Clinical Coding Auditor & Trainer to support the Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) and Medical Record Audit Programs. This role focuses on both auditing and training, ensuring quality and compliance while empowering clinical and coding staff through effective education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of staff work and present findings with actionable recommendations.
  • Manage all aspects of broad or complex auditing projects with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with updates to policies, procedures, and work processes.
  • Perform training needs analyses and develop targeted training programs for clinical and coding teams.
  • Design or select training materials and aids to support staff development.
  • Maintain accurate records of auditing and training activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards, policies, and quality measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN, PA, MD, APRN, DO, or MBBS license.
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of DRG and / or Medical Record Audit experience.
  • 1+ year of clinical experience in a hospital or acute care environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, including excellent English grammar.
  • Inpatient coding experience preferred.
  • Valid / Current CPC or CIC Certification (through AAPC) or CCS (through AHIMA) preferred.
  • RHIA or RHIT credentials preferred.
  • Prior experience in training or auditing within a managed care or healthcare setting preferred.
