What You'll Do
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office (Human Resources / EEO) Report In Location : 1970 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223 Work Hours : 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. (CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. Subject to change.
Under direction of HR Administrator, serves as agency human resource manager by directing & implementing human resource sub-programs; EEO (e.g., create & implement EEO & Affirmative Action (AA) plan for agency to ensure compliance with EEO & affirmative action regulations & established plans statewide; conduct in-house monitoring of EEO & AA demographics to include preparation of EEO utilization report, upward mobility report, etc.; develop strategies for complying with specific EEO & affirmative action guidelines; advise agency on EEO program, procedure, rules, reports & ODPS Affirmative Action (AA) plan; provide monitoring for disparate impact & making recommendations for improvement or correction to eliminate discriminatory practices; meet with & counsel employees, investigate complaints & attempt to resolve allegations of discrimination by employees or applicants for employment; provide information to the Office of Diversity & Inclusion regarding discrimination allegations & cases filed against ODPS); Draft agency position statements for discrimination complaints received from Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) & Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC) (e. g., independently research pertinent information relative to complaint, analyze evidence, conduct on-site reviews as needed, make complex determinations & / or recommendations based on thorough analysis of facts & prepare findings & submit to respective agency in timely manner); Recruitment (e.g., serve as agency recruiter & attend job fairs to increase recruitment efforts for the agency; contact & / or collaborate with participating universities; maintain & track universities & potential applicants in attendance; utilize Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS) OAKS / HCM, Business Intelligence (BI), etc. to query, collect & analyze data to assist managers in evaluating trends, determine & plan workforce needs & / or identify action plan or strategic initiatives); Serve as the point of contact & assist in monitoring, preparing & / or processing forms (i.e., Leave of Absence (LOA) requests or other HR related forms); Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g. provide developmental opportunities & work direction, coach staff to foster development, monitor staff activities to ensure quality customer service & information technology security, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, pre-screen applications & participate in interviews).Administer & oversee ADA program & Policy Development to ensure ODPS is compliant with local, state & / or federal codes, rules & regulations (e.g., advises lower-level HCM staff on complex questions & / or issues related to agency ADA program & / or policy development; oversee the development & implementation of human resources policies & procedures; analyzes, reviews & tracks changes to ODPS policies; provides technical advice regarding interpretation of ADA or other ODPS or statewide policies, rules & regulations; provides information to public & other governmental agencies on ODPS ADA program; responds to complex inquiries from applicants & / or general public; participates on committees involved in researching & developing new programs, policies & procedures or to revise existing ones; maintains ongoing communications with other state agencies & departmental divisions).Act as a liaison between Human Resources & internal & / or external customers; Annually review & update EEO web-based training materials; Develop & conduct instructor led EEO & ADA training for supervisors & provide individual EEO training with employees when required; Perform other duties as required (e.g. assist supervisor or other HR staff with special projects as needed, represent agency at meetings, conferences, serve on committees, participate in speaking engagements, respond to inquiries, prepare weekly & monthly reports, etc.).

Completion of undergraduate core program in human resources, business or public administration; 24 mos. exp. in human resources which included 12 mos. exp. in supervisory & / or management principles & techniques. Or 4 yrs. exp. in human resources. Or 12 mos. exp. as Human Capital Management Senior Analyst, 64613. Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
