Position Requirements Current State Specific REGISTERED NURSE (RN) License Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross NIH Stroke Scale Minimum of two years of ICU / Stepdown REGISTERED NURSE (RN) work experience Job Responsibilities Provide direct care to acutely ill adult patients who require close monitoring but are stable enough to be outside the ICU. Manage a 1 : 4 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring comprehensive assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. Titrate vasopressors, insulin drips, sedation medications, and other continuous IV infusions as ordered. Manage tracheostomy patients, ventilator-dependent patients (including trach vents and BiPAP / OptiFlow), and those with arterial lines and external pacemakers. Care for patients with chest tubes, ensuring proper drainage system function and monitoring for complications. Respond to rapid changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions, including activation of the rapid response team when necessary. Utilize advanced monitoring equipment to assess and document hemodynamic and respiratory status. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to provide high-quality patient care. Perform frequent patient assessments, administer medications, and complete accurate documentation in Epic (EMR). Participate in patient and family education regarding disease processes, procedures, and discharge planning. Float to lower-acuity hospital floors as needed to support staffing requirements while remaining within scope of practice. Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards at all times.
