Job Title : Groundskeeper I
Billings School District 2 is seeking a Groundskeeper I to perform semi-skilled manual labor in maintaining grounds and related areas, and assist in the repair, maintenance, and construction of buildings and related facilities. Schedule : 12-month position; Monday - Friday; 7 : 00 a.m. - 3 : 30 p.m. Wage : 20.48 per hour for 90 workday probationary period, then 22.76 per hour. Duties :
- Performs landscaping and ground care tasks including seeding, laying sod, planting, earthwork and fine grading.
- Waters, weeds, and mows lawns.
- Prunes trees and shrubs.
- Rakes leaves, hauls brush and rubbish.
- Removes snow and ice.
- Maintains parking lots and playgrounds.
- Moves furniture, musical instruments and equipment.
- Repairs fencing.
- Fertilizes lawns.
- Sprays for insects and weeds.
- Repairs irrigation systems
- Operates trucks, tractors and various yard equipment.
- May substitute for absent grounds foreman.
- Assists craftsmen by performing air temperature control, carpentry, electrical, glazing, painting, and plumbing work of a maintenance nature not requiring journeyman level skills.
- Supervises student help; performs related work as required.
Requirements :
High school graduate or equivalent.Minimum of three years of experience as a groundskeeper; orAny combination of education and experience, and one year of general facilities maintenance, construction and repair work; orAny combination of education and experience.Working knowledge of the care and operation of manual and motorized groundskeeping equipment including trucks and tractors.Working knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment required to perform groundskeeping duties for the proper care of lawns, flowers, trees, shrubs, playgrounds and parking lots.Helper's level of knowledge in the methods and practices of general maintenance and construction work related to facilities and building systems, and the proper use and care of associated tools and equipment.Able to perform manual labor.Able to perform a variety of groundskeeping tasks and tasks related to the maintenance of facilities.Able to operate equipment and use tools effectively.Able to follow written and verbal instructions.Able to work from blueprints, plans and sketches.Able to maintain effective working relationships with fellow workers, supervisors, all people served by the department, and the public.Equal Opportunity Employer.
