The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and / or step. The base pay range for this position is $300,000- $450,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http : / / ortho.ucsd.edu / ) is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking highly skilled and experienced Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgeons to join our team.

Responsibilities :

• Perform a wide range of surgical and non-surgical treatments for sports-related injuries, including joint injuries, fractures, soft tissue, and ligament damage.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including sports medicine physicians, anesthesiologists, and radiologists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
• Develop and implement evidence-based care pathways and clinical practice guidelines for sports medicine patients.
• Participate in educational activities, including teaching and mentoring residents and fellows.
• Participate in research activities, including clinical trials and / or basic science research to advance the field of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and contribute to the advancement of orthopaedic sports medicine through research and publications.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

(required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD, DO, or equivalent, or MD / PhD equivalent in health-related fields.

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification / permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited orthopedic surgery residency training program.

Additional qualifications

(required at time of start)

Candidates must have completed a fellowship program in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine by the time of the start of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in sports medicine or in managing complex sports injuries are preferred.

Candidates with a minimum of 1 year of experience working with sports teams, affiliations, or organizations, including knowledge of team dynamics and on-site care protocol, are preferred.
